5 - 7 - 5
Haiku are a form of Japanese poetry that are written in three lines with a syllable count of five, seven, five. But don't let that stop you writing whatever you like. There are no fascists here and any contribution you wish to make is welcome. Here we seek the sublime, and if we can't have that, we'll just have a laugh. It's all good.
With the current picture as your inspiration, pile in to the comments and have a go. At the end of the week I pick five and put them on the front page.
As the Japanese say - Let's enjoyment haiku!

Well, I'll forgive you for saying that Buff, what with being a foreigner and all, but otherwise a pox on Australia Day! Or a pox on what it's become anyway... I explain at my blog.

sorry to offend, it was just a wish for a happy day off, regardless of how hypocritical 'Australia Day' is (just like Canada Day)

When I was a nipper at school we used to march around the school hall waving Union jacks for Empire day but when empire became not PC they changed it to Commonwealth Day. I was young (and stupid) enough to believe that public buildings were putting flags out for my dad’s birthday. When Commonwealth went the same way as empire they moved it three weeks forward and gave it to the socialists for May Day which just goes to show you that those who decide these things didn’t need a day for us to appreciate how much money they were making out of us but how much we weren’t making out of
Sorry I couldn't get that into 5-7-5
Btw how is the old man Nobby?
Buff! Sorry if I made that sound like a big deal. It wasn't. Imagine me saying it while striking a Michael Palin-esque pose. I do that a lot you know.
Hey FB, still spun out by last week's pic I see. Otherwise, weirdly enough we had no patriotic nothing when I was a kid. There's a lot to be said for it.
As for the old man, it's all onwards and downwards. His wits are going now. He wakes up at sunset goes to sleep at sunrise and otherwise barely makes a lick of sense. His new thing is take random food out of the fridge, put it in a bowl, and pour water over it. Then he leaves it there and goes to bed. It's somehow connected to making tea, which he does a lot of.
It seems there's no point mentioning it to him the next day since he professes never to remember it. And he may be telling the truth. It's always hard to know, what with his penchant for sneakiness.
Anyway he continues, in spite of the fact that neither he nor I know why.
Oh gosh Nobody, it sounds like you have kidnapped my father.
His latest thing - which I have put a stop too - was to combine his instant coffee, cream and sugar and toss the whole watery mess into the electric kettle.
What a bloody mess.
