Spirals macro and
micro, a trick off an old
muslim's mosque window.

---

Hand-formed metal
the Tree of Life leads us to
fractal paradise

-

Intention joins craft
on the path to one man's not
so secret garden

---

Twisted metal forms
Intricate lacework of leaves
Leading us within

---

love's labors not lost
vision patience skill combine
beauty its reward

who has wrought this art
no simple smith at his forge
mind & spirit speak

this threshold beckons
discoveries within its frame
beyond, more await the eye

---

metal lacing crafted
framed, flowing, inviting
a soulful boundry

---

the gate unopened
my dark twin the gatekeeper
I cannot confront

Bloody rudeness! I just go and help myself to a picture of Brian's art! And without so much as a by-your-leave... dreadful...

Brian, you won't take it amiss if we use a photo of your work for inspiration will you?

(Wait! Have we just re-invented advertising? The picture here functions as an ad. And yet it's not an ad. It's merely a gorgeous image to inspire poetry. And it's an ad. Hmm... imagine if all advertising was like this?)

Anyway thanks Brian. I'm a fan. I almost wish I was 19 again and prowling for an apprenticeship, ha ha. I ran a prop/modelmaking/sculpting shop for ten years and love working with my hands but it never extended to foundry kind of work.

That aside, there are pieces of yours I like better than this one, but I chose this because everything that 'isn't the gate' (if you can dig it) is really working here. Which is to say, it's your gate sure, but it's also an 'every' gate. There is something beyond and we must pass through. Kind of thing...

My goodness, that is beautiful! Brian, what a talent! Nobody - wonderful pick for the haiku page. (Big improvement over the 'statue' - blech).

Miraculix, Magdelena, Kikz, and Nobody,
thanks for the kind words, people here know how to magnify life and have fun and I am so glad to find you and join in.
Viva Zapata!

Well I'm glad to have you piling in, mate. Otherwise I just wanted to say - Ha Ha! Er... that's me crowing to myself at Brian mentioning Muslim art. For me, there's something sublime in Islamic art and I'd been wondering if I wasn't seeing hints of it in your work. There's a lot to it and it's absurdly underappreciated. Most excellent.

As are the haiku! Well done all.

And Buff, as God is my witness, I promise never again to post any images depicting people defecating, Catalonian or otherwise. And you can't say fairer than that.

'Hmm...' says Buff. 'Ha ha ha,' says I.

What man's hand has wrought -
iron as nature's whimsy,
swirling with life.

barrier, portal,
go, stay, yea, nay - whither we?
Bound for? Or just bound?

cheers Everyone

I really wanted to put a nice haiku here for this lovely gate but all I could get was this:

the gate unopened
my dark twin the gatekeeper
I cannot confront

Not that cheery. My current seasonal viewing has been Richard Williams A Christmas Carol and the bbc versions of The Signalman and Whistle and I'll come to you.

Is Les still offline? I seem to remember him saying he was going to be on his own for a while for the next few weeks, i'd pop over and say hello to him but i'm skint as always. I hope he's ok.

I was wondering where he was. Olives of course. And what would Xmas be without olives? Um...

Hey John. As for 'not very cheery', the thing is that this is a gate. Gates are an entry to a place but also a barrier. That's the point. It is the nature of gates to beckon and deter.

Nature in iron.
Teasing me with what's to come,
yet barring my way.

thanks Kikz, i wondered what he was up to.
Ta nobody, you seem to have the handle on it.
