Welcome to the haiku club
Haiku are a form of Japanese poetry that are written in three lines with a syllable count of five, seven, five. But don't let that stop you writing whatever you like. There are no fascists here and any contribution you wish to make is welcome. Here we seek the sublime, and if we can't have that, we'll just have a laugh. It's all good.
With the current picture as your inspiration, pile in to the comments and have a go. At the end of the week I pick five and put them on the front page.
As the Japanese say - Let's enjoyment haiku!

transmutation of all
once i was red and flowing
now solid and still
Spring thaw, ice water,
I can get down on my knees
and drink from the Earth
der Schutte
his death throe frozen
fighting the earth's surly grip
violence now at peace
kraken of lava
as serene as the Buddha
the surf does its worst
relentless in flow
the moon's beatin on the rocks
a misty despair
the eye of the elephant
holds the neanderthals grin
continents merge together
it takes but one look
in the land of Medusa
to stricken a life
rain fogging up lens
quickly look over the wall
mineral surprise

Hullo Su, John, folks,
Sorry about that. It's all the fault of a hippy buddy of mine who, as a belated birthday present, sent me a bag of DIY party, if you know what I mean. I certainly did, and spent a week or two in blissful admiration of the scenery and otherwise feeling pleased with myself.
And no need for anyone to wag any fingers and prate on about Greek goddesses. I can do that myself.
Otherwise, good haiku! Thanks Su and John and other John and the Schutte and Anon. Tough gig to pick the front page but I gave Su's a tweak and whacked it in. Yoroshiku.
